Everybody pretends either that induced demand is without limit, or that it doesn't exist. I'll freely admit it exists, but induced demand is not just a magic thing that is created out of the ether - it typically reflects standing needs or at least potentials that haven't been addressed. To claim we're better off not addressing those needs or trying to make use of potentials on the table is the acme of stupidity - but one economists indulge in frequently.
