Literally never. In fact, I've never once seen a single AMC. Any that did once exist in Western New York have all probably rusted into unrecognizable piles of scrap metal due to the all of the harsh winters.

I'm not sure they didn't invent the vaunted nuclear blast resistant space frame that Smart claims to have pioneered. Grotesquely unstable fore and aft, but very tough - a friend of my dad flipped one, and then drove away.

Can't say I've seen one in person in the past year, but I see them occasionally. They're unfortunately pretty scarce on CL, too.

They probably rusted into unrecognizable piles of scrap metal about two years after manufacture. My grandfather was a Chrysler man. One time, he bought an AMC, don't remember the model, probably a 4-door Matador. I remember visiting him one summer and taking more than one trip to the dealership to try to fix that POS, and listening to him grumble and bitch the whole way. Next time we visited, he was back in a Chrysler.

Hmmm, I wonder how much boost you can run through the old AMC 4.0 I6s. A Gremlin that can haul ass is something I'd like to see.

One of the most recent times I saw a Gremlin, it had been swapped to a 401 V8. Ass-hauling was probably possible.
