Recommend me some good quality tints. Here's my problem,

A graphite car+black leather+sitting outside all day=Holy hot.

VA law states 35% rear with 50% front but I think I'll go 35% all around, maybe even 30%. It'll aesthetically improve my car and help keep it cool while protecting me and the interior from harmful UV rays.

How noticeable will the difference be in temperature of the cabin after sitting outside in the sun for a few hours with the tint? It's nearly unbearable right now, and I hope tints can help fix this. Also, post up any pictures you have of your tinted cars sharing what % you went with.

Tints help quite a bit, My father installed one on the Jetta about 8 years ago, which is also in the same colour. The car still gets hot, but nowhere as quick. I forget the opacity of what film was installed, but it's fairly dark. The driver's side window fell off its tray once, and scratched some of the film off on the driver's door, but it's holding up well otherwise, the tint was well done.

Here's the car.

Edit: the tint installed is called "Solar Gard".

I know nearly every tint installer provides a lifetime warranty.

Good to hear it does a pretty good job. Would you say it doesn't get AS hot as before?

It doesn't get as hot, thankfully. The scratches aren't covered on the warranty, because it wasn't a defect with the film.

I know E90's are notorious for scratched tint, so I plan on have moleskin installed to prevent that.

Good ole Va laws. Funny how the law is 50/35 but you can spray paint the back window black if you wanted.

I have 35 all around and never had any issues. Brother inlaw works for Best Buy in their car-fi and they do tint now so he's going to help me replace my worn tint with some 20%

I originally wanted to go with 20% all around but I'm in DC pretty often and I don't know if they'd let it slide out there.

Tint won't keep the car cooler when you park it in the sun, it may help but only a little bit. Where it will help though is letting the AC do its job more efficiently and cooling the car down. After you start your car up drive with the windows down for a minute or so with the air on then roll them up and after another minute hit the recirculation button for icicles on your balls all summer long. You might want to go 30% rear and 35-40% front so there is a differential in the front and rear windows so the cops don't hassle you too much.

Check your local laws, California allows NO tint on the front windows. I do think clear UV tint is A-OK, though.
