I think it's one of the better looking SUVs out there. I think I'm going to try to get my parents in one of these. I really want to get rid of our 08 Odyssey now, and I think this would be a good stepping stone before getting a totally new car. The odyssey has no mechanical issues, but the minivan ness of it has been getting to me lately. We test drove the latest generation and disliked it because of its bulk. Really the obnoxiously high hood. The 08 was before it got larger. So, I would propose to them that we sell the Odyssey and buy an 08 Pilot for pretty much the same amount.

Good buy. My mom drives one - same color as the featured photo. She's got 150,000 miles on it and it hasn't even hiccuped. Unreal turning radius, which your parents will like if they dislike bulk. I rode tripped it 2,000mi this spring and it did the job effectively w/ decent gas mileage. Also crashed it a few years back, did $10,000 worth of damage, and all occupants were fine. Just don't expect to ever smile while you're driving it.

Cool. It is a Honda, so reliability is excepted! But because it's a honda, driving fun shouldn't be expected.

To be honest, I can't see where exchanging a Van for a bloody CUV/SUV/Pseudo-off-roader thingy makes any sense. They both won't handle or be much fun to drive on the road. Cars of that vintage might have a problem or two, why swap a car that has been in the family for something that hasn't? Keep the problem you know, and don't buy somebody else's problem. In the end, the Pilot is only a Mini-van in disguise. Not much street cred to be won by this.

Honda makes great cars, and the Pilot is no exception. But try to avoid the VCM models (cylinder deactivation). The Pilot has the same reliability as the van you have now.

What's wrong with the Ody?

Fuck ugly if you ask me. But you didn't ask. Nobody did! I'll go back into my corner.

But seriously, I can't see where .... too bored to talk Mini-van vs. Pseudo-Off-roa....

Roberto, your guess for this world cup? Obviously not Brazil, maybe Belgium, Italy was strong, and why am I watching RUS-KOR? They both suck! Italy-Netherlands-Argentina-Germany? Someone from this bunch?

Great car. More boring than watching NASCAR, but great.

I'm not a football expert, and I think it's too early to make a prediction... we'll see! It's good to see that Brazil is not that mighty, though... Indeed I was really happy for Mexico this evening, and I think they really deserved a goal at least.

Yep on both accounts! Too early to make predictions, and a goal for Mexico would have been well deserved. Their goalkeeper is their biggest hero, too.

I think they're kinda boring. IMO the new ones look great. Such an improvement over the previous generation.

I personally like the old one better. Sure the old one is more beige, but very latest refresh of the car looks bad IMO.

Our Ody has VCM, so far no problems. Anyway, it seems like it picks up a new scratch every day, the interior is showing its age from 6 years of family use. I've found some pilots in better condition online, they do exist. Those are the main reasons.

They're solid, reliable and comfy things. My uncle had a 2003 Pilot, drove it til 160k and traded it in for a 2011.

They do get a bit noisy inside.

Ah, I see. How many miles on it? Yeah, Honda's newer cars are a step back, except maybe the Accord.

Too bad the 4-cylinder Sienna wasn't available with a sunroof!

I think 60k. It was really the second car all it's life, only used when all 5 of us were going out in the car. It now is only driven once a week because of our leaf, which is nearing its first 10k miles in the 10 months that we've had it.
