Race long battle decided in the last few laps; as Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrossa, and Marc Marquez battled for the lead. Dani's late mistake meant Rossi was able to steal away second place in the last lap, though he had been leading for almost half of it. During the victory lap, Rossi fake punched Marquez, and once they stopped in at the pits to head up to the podium this battled ensued. Hard enemies on the race, friends and funny men after its done. None of that temper tantrum "he stole my race" in F1; or that anti-sportsmanship BS of not shaking hands or crossing looks.

Rossi is Rossi. He's done everything there is to do in the sport, and at this point is just having fun and putting off retiring another year, he doesn't care. He's Schumacher coming back to have something to do on the weekend.
Marquez and Pedrosa on the other hand, hate each other. Pedrossa is a huge prima donna, and Marquez coming on to the team last year and smoking everyone, combined with steamrolling the field this year hasn't sat well at all. It's a total Hamilton/Rosberg situation over at Honda.

Wow, I must have not been paying attention, I grew up with Rossi winning race after race after race. Never heard of this Marquez fellow, but I see he is a recent development.
All in all the racing in MotoGP is seriously cool! There are arguably significantly better bikes in the field than others. But they do have less of a propensity for breaking, unlike in F1, especially this year. What I am trying to say here, the luck-factor isn't nearly as prevalent. With F1 you have to HOPE your car is dialed in and that screw ups don't fuck you over. It's all about the rider, especially at the front of the pack.

Agree, but Rossi is as media savvy as he is a smart rider. He knows MM is the golden boy right now, and the more he plays nice, the better.

Well you see, Motorcycle racing is a lot like Formula 1 before they began developing Aero, everything is about the engine and how much mechanical grip you can get. Most all the bikes are at similar levels, making it more down to how the rider uses the equipment to get to the front, rather than what's the newest gimmick that could be used to promote overtaking.
Also, that right there is one reason I've been a Rossi fan for the longest time, he has as much fun as possible at all times.

Believe me, Rossi will not be happy until he is consistently on the podium and fighting for the win. I like his recent resurgence in form, which gives me hope he might still be able to challenge for a title. A rider at that point is only looking out for his legacy, and since this season it's worked in his favor as Lorenzo is doing even worst (considering he is further behind in the championship), we might have Rossi for a while longer.
I know Pedrosa and Marquez hate each other like Rossi and Lorenzo. But at least each one of them is able to recognize each others talent, and still congratulate each other on the field even if it is at least for the cameras.
Also you rarely see any interaction between F1 drivers other than the usual pad on the back and the occasional press conference joke. Rossi & Marc have been at it for a while with similar antics, which is fun and shows great sportsmanship. Plus I love the fact that they get to celebrate. Marquez went and kicked a few footballs to the crowd on his victory lap.
