Our 08 Odyssey is developing these spots all over the hood. It is not garaged. Only two bays, one occupied by the Leaf, and the other by the lawn mower and bicycles. Does anyone here on Oppo know what they are and how to remove them?

Rock chips, methinks. Our Vue has them, too. Just a result of the daily drive. Touch-up paint should fix them.

They might be signs that the clearcoat is failing

Is there any trees over head? It could be sap.

Do you ever park near heavily mulched areas? My parents house used to have a heavily mulched area, and the mulch releases a fungus that will stick to cars (little black bumps, but I cant tell from your picture if that's what you have or not). More info in this article. But they are pain in the ass to pick off.

If this isn't a little black bump/spot, ignore everything above.

are they parking it near trees? Could be caterpillar poo. Yes I'm serious. Try a claying it or bug & tar remover

it is a bump off the surface. And it is near mulch, but the siding of the house doesn't get spotted. My dad did try tar remover and it seemed to get some of it off, hard work though.

No. It looks like it might be fungus according to another suggestion.

Don't know if you ever had a collision or bought the car used, but it looks like there is dirt between the color coat and clearcoat and the clear is coming loose. The pock mark will be several time bigger than the dirt itself.

The cheapass answer is to get more clear (glorified nail polish) from the auto parts store and it will hopefully 'glue down' the areas that will come loose next. Otherwise, it's back to the body shop. Once in a blue moon, they can sand the clear smooth, not disturb the color layer and just clear it again.

We bought it new. And the car has never been in a collision. I don't really know what could be. But what you said is defiantly a possibility.

Yeah, they are a pain, but some soapy water/tar removal and then a good wash afterwards should take care of all issues if its the fungus/spore.
