I smoked two racks of ribs, drank a beer before noon, took the girls to the pool and taught the 3-year old how to jump in, and finally went for a two hour Hill Country drive in my Alfa before chowing down on meats. AND IT ONLY BROKE DOWN ONCE!!!!

It was a great day indeed.

I took my dad and my daughters to Fenway Park. It was such a gorgeous day and nice to be out for a day game (says the Mets fan, Citi Park was a bit too much of a hike)

Put new rotors on my gifted to me '88 Mercury Tracer HB. What a pain in the rear! Why would Mazda put the wheel bearing outboard of the rotors? It was fun tho because my 7 year old daughter helped me with and it I got to explain a lot of major car systems to her while doing so.

Tinkered on an old Saab while my kids played in the driveway. Fantastic day!

Ended up sorta making a weekend of it. Saturday, my wife had to work, so my son and I drove the 280Z to our municipal airport day event. There were about 15 or so historic aircraft, helicopters and airplanes taking off and landing, a bunch of police and fire vehicles, a Chinook, a Blackhawk, a Humvee, and a personnel carrier (all stuff from the flood rescue operations last fall). Best of all, they were letting kids (of all ages) sit in the cockpits and drivers' seats, etc. My kid's 19 months old, so getting to touch and sit in fire trucks and what not was pretty much heaven for him. He had a lot of good things to say about it, and I could even understand most of it as his vocabulary is really taking off. Sunday, some lovely presents and cards, and some playground time. I scored the afternoon to do some projects I wanted to get to: installing and finishing new solid interior doors, moving/clearing the garden for better sun and a better spot for a sandbox. Topped off with a proper dinner after his bed time: grilled ribeye, baked potato, proper wedge salad, and a nice, dry gin martini. Or two. Really did not want the weekend to end.
