Washed and changed the diff/trans oils at a DIY shop this weekend. If you are in CO, I highly recommend this place. The bays are clean and well stocked with sockets, wrenches, air tools... u name it. Each bay has a hydraulic lift, work bench with a vice, adjustable oil drain dolly (trans fluid makes an absolute mess) and a TV so I could watch the world cup! There was a very helpful ASE master tech there who had all the specialty tools I needed... the price? $29.95/hour! I finished my job in 1.5 hours but could have finished under an hour... so roughly $50 bucks.
I missed the Havana Cruzin' car show this weekend (Sorry Nibbles) but gave Gretchen a good wash and took her for a mountain run through Bergen Park/Mt. Evans yesterday. I snapped some pictures too.
My wheels and tires are a bit dirty right now but that's because I have these bad boys to mount on there! 19x8 G8 wheels now accepting applications for 245/40/19 PS2s or Pzeros, nt555s or the like :)

Not too common on the east coast, but yeah. I know someone who owns a storage facility that has a rentable wash bay, and a rentable service bay with 5 or 6 foot lift.
Unfortunately, he can be a bit of a dick, so I keep my distance.

I debated going there a few times, most recently when I put frame rails on the Miata and I was cursing rolling around under the car on tiny jackstands with my nose kissing the floor pan. I need a new jack and stands, although a 6 to 8 car outbuilding with multiple lifts would be better.

Yeah these people were very courteous and helpful! I had no problem spending $50 for em - maybe this is a franchiseable idea?

It would be tough to find the right people, but I'd love it especially if it was set up like a cooking class: I have something I want to do but don't know how, let me rent the space and a mechanic to teach me

Oof that's tough... yeah my car is pretty low and I still would like some ramps for smaller projects I can do in my backyard but it was an absolute pleasure working on a hydraulic lift with that oil drain dolly.

I imagine it's also worth it to not have to haul old fluids somewhere for disposal. My least favorite part of at home oil changes, coolant flushes, etc.

They absolutely should. If I could have had the magnum on a lift for the transmission work, I would have loved it. Might have also meant we wouldn't have nearly lost a really important bolt in the fluid pan.
$30 an hour is more than reasonable. I think the most important part would be to have an experienced mechanic available for each lift if for nothing other than to make sure it's properly on the lift. With the size of the wagon, I've seen mechanics get very nervous rolling it into a service bay.

An ASE mechanic is the only one able to use the lift - that's one of their rules.

Then they need to go ahead and franchise today.
