I want- no I NEED a Saab! But I already have a car. Why would I require a second? Saab isn't really a track day bro car...but then WAGONS and hatchbacks!. And wacky Saab features! But then again parts costs...plus Kansas.
HALP!

I'll only approve a Saab purchase if it's a 9-3 TurboX wagon. Find one, and you're good.

Talk you out of it? No. No, I'm probably going to have to encourage it
Do it! Do it and don't look back!

I'm just a tad bit biased, but I can say that I've just always loved them because they have such a strong following. Never really had that many problems finding parts or getting repairs done. Insurance is pretty good on them. They're safe as hell. Classy and clean looking without any overbearing traits.
Plus they're pretty cheap at this point, depending on the model.

I love Saabs. I really dig the 9-3, for some reason. There is a 2011 with 24,000 miles for $18,000 about an hour from me. If only...
Truth be told, what would one do about warranty costs or parts from a non-GM warrantied Saab?

Parts are the thing I'm most curious about.

What about the cost of parts? Especially the Saab specific parts?

If you want to be told not to buy a Saab Don't ask Oppo.
One of my favorite newer Saabs the 93 Sportcombi and 93X Sportcombi.

They're so nice. But outside of my price range. $3500 is my limit.

Look up Orio AB, they're the company that was the main Saab parts company at one point and were owned by Saab directly. Now they operate as their own entity making parts for everything 2008 and newer, but they still manage a good amount of parts from models made in the late 80's, 90's, and 2000's. They still work with Saab Parts North America to make sure that most parts are still available.
In terms of costs, it really depends on the part. But I never had any significant issues other than trim pieces and a damaged radiator. I won't say getting parts for a Saab is a cheap thing, but there are brands out there where it's much worse. At least Saab still has a functioning supply chain for regularly needed parts.
But yeah, my family and I have never had any major problems when it came to parts, but we've also been pretty lucky. In worse cases it's been a matter of having to wait a month for a part to make it's way over from Sweden.

Alright, Ill help you
Saab owners have great taste in cars and intelligence
Saabs perform almost as good as ZeGermans, without costing that much
Saabs have so many quirks and unique touches that youll just smile every time you come up to it
You have a huge supporting group of people who will do anything to help, and even more
You will never loose your car in the car park
You will feel better when you get it, because you did it. Even if it wasnt the best of choices.
Oops, I guess I didn't help much did I?
