Confession: I dont know much mechanically when it comes to cars. I could never rebuild an engine or do serious work. I found this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for sale for $500. Needs torque converter. What would this cost to fix? I like the car for some reason.

It will require the entire transmission to be rebuilt.
It will be cheap if you are doing an old TH400 or A727, but this is not. FWD cars usually aren't cheap.

Yeah no fun at all
It usually costs way more than a car like this is worth

I've no idea, but I could never in good conscience recommend anything related to a K-car.
Fun tidbit: I had a friend in highschool who had a beat to shit Lebaron. Someone spray painted "fart" on his trunk lid. Good times.

Bad news, bro. If the TC is borked, the rest of the trans is likely to be as well, since a broken TC means metal shavings flowing through the trans.
Also never trust a craigslist at when it says, "Oh, only this is broken." because if it's a host of other things, they are likely to hide or downplay the worst of it to lure prospects into at least coming out and looking at it. This is how "Overheats a lot, probably a radiator leak, no big deal." turns into a head gasket job after you've brought it. A used car is guilty until proven innocent.

I know nothing about 90s fwd Chrysler transmissions. It should be an A413 or 31TH according to the internet. Rebuild kits for these cost about $110 after a quick google search.
Buying one from a yard would be a bit of a gamble; without driving it you wouldn't know if it was slipping. You may not end up with something better than you started.
I'd consider buying it if it runs. It doesn't need the torque converter to start.

Avoid this car.
1: It's a Mopar, and, additionally, one from the "meh, crapboxes are good enough, and we have no idea how to beat the Japanese at our own game" era. If it doesn't already, it will have stupid , frequent, and many electrical problems, especially since it's a convertible. At least it doesn't have the hidden headlamps.
2: It's an old convertible. If it doesn't already, the roof will leak. It will make you miserable. The soft-top roof is not a structural element, so the car will be relatively flimsy and soft, not in a good way. It's also an old one, before decent sound- and weather-proofing.
3: There's more than just the torque converter that's making this "only" $500. Before "Cash for Clunkers) that would have been a fair price, but now that's just a little more than the scrap value of this thing. Be warned, be wary.
4: The only white LeBaron that's ever been of interest is the fictional one in Cake's song "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" that Kitty/Karen is trading her MG for. You have to wonder why.
