Am I alone in wishing we were right hand drive in the US?

I recently drove one of these little suzuki trucks (Tons of fun by the way!) and I found that I really like the right hand drive layout. It feels much more natural to me to have my dominant (right) hand on the steering wheel and using my left hand to shift. It was weird at first but now I see why Jeremy Clarkson tells us we drive on the wrong side of the road.

I cannot share my opinion as I have never driven a RHD car. Keep that in mind when everybody says "NO"

I actually do find driving manual more natural in a RHD. I don't drive stick often but I got to go back to back to back in this order: LHD, RHD, LHD and I did the best in the RHD.

Can you imagine the carnage that would ensue if we tried to switch. Most of the people out there driving are barely able to drive at all and to switch them around?? Not to mention the cost to redo every thing you see on the road. It has been done before somewhere so it is doable. I have not driven a RHD but have sat in the seat and I find it is no more appealing to me than a LHD.

I think the weirdest part would be having first be far away and fifth/sixth be the closest.

I've driven a LHD in The Nederlands and it just didn't seem right. As you say using your dominant hand to change gears while the less dominant has the wheel. RHD just seems more fluid but I grew up with RHDs.

I have had 2 RHD cars. and the fact that most of the world operates on RHD I keep thinking that we are the ones that are doing it wrong and not the other way around.

I'm the same RHD feels way more natural.

somewhat related: they just released RHD Tesla's on june 9th

It's mostly just in driving dynamics. Since I'm right handed I feel like I can steer much better with one hand.

I guess you are right! like a proper gentleman I will admit when I'm wrong. the countries in blue are RHD and red is LHD.

but Japan and Australia and most of Asia is RHD and they have some of the coolest cars.

I was going to post that picture, but I knew you'd figure it out. And yes, some of the coolest cars ever made are from RHD countries.

I find it interesting that although most of the map is red (LHD countries), the blue RHD countries make up a third of road users.

You may be right (pun?). I am left handed so who knows what I would think if I actually drove a RHD.

Steering is an easier motion than shifting with a manual gearbox. I would feel really weird in a RHD car.

I live in Australia and have only driven RHD cars. While I can't speak from experience, I always thought LHD would be better for manual shifting because the 1st to 2nd shift is close to you - this shift always feels a bit awkward in RHD as you have to almost push the gear stick over to get it into 2nd. I can't wait until I get the chance to drive a LHD manual to test my theory!
