So I have two people coming out to take a look at my motorized bicycle, and I fully expect to be up about $250 tomorrow. Now, I usually take money made from projects and throw it into new projects. So what does oppo think of think of the single greatest selling vehicle in the history of humanity, the Honda super cub?

There is a relatively complete basket case for sale for $100

she is a 66cc Skyhawk kit, with a SBP shifter kit. I picked it up as a non runner for about $100, threw a new carb on and got it running. Lots of fun, especially off-road :)

Unfortunately its not street legal here in Oregon, and even though I have communicated this to one buyer, he intends to use it for commuting.

Ah, I remember that post. Yeah they are street-legal here in California. Next year I'll be a student without a car and I reckon it'd be hella useful... could coast down the hill to town and power back up to campus with some groceries in the inevitable pop-out baskets.

I've heard some super loud ones and some more mild ones—I'd be interested in a quieter bike. I know muffler choice and 2 vs. 4 stroke are the factors here (although most are 2-stroke, correct?)

Well a 4 stroke is going to be quieter and better for the environment if you care about that. 2 strokes will make about 50%more power for a given displacement but pollute more due to the whole burning oil thing. Mine is a two stroke with a muffler so the noise is not too bad but with performance exhausts they sound like a weed wacker attacking a beehive.

I think there might actually be racing leagues for them somewhere in CA.

My son has one. We shared a lot of good learning times working on it. His is a 1981 Passport. 80cc. Last year of the 6 volt electrics. Parts are readily available. Only problem was at 6000 feet altitude it becomes very gutless. He took it back to Ohio with him and said it was mine if I wanted to come and get it. Have not done that yet. I read somewhere that they have made over 60 million of them. That one looks like a lot of work. Good luck.

looks like a lot of work, but all the major components appear to be there. I'll probably go take a look later this week. To be perfectly honest, I've been looking for something that will take a bit more work, the last two project vehicles I bought actually ended up being simple fixes, so I couldn't really lose myself in the troubleshooting process.
