edit....the winner is The Transporter. The car averaged 27.3. I was really amazed. It was also extremely comfortable and an overall pleasure to drive.

Kinja'd!!!

So, as I noted in my earlier post I did 360 miles in a mustang GT today. It is a 6spd 2013 with the coyote. How well did she do in the mpg department today?

Kinja'd!!!

Winner gets this sweet bus I saw today. Actually I saw 5 just like this today.

Mine always says 18 or 20 MPG. I think the fuel economy gauge is useless

You have to be exact. No rounding allowed.

Ha, knew it! People just don't know how fuel efficient modern engines are.

I took it pretty easy. I ha the car packed with stuff and I was following my wife in her odyssey most of the way. I actually started getting better mileage after I started leading though. I think I'm more Jenson Button on the throttle and she's more Lewis Hamilton when we are on the interstate. She jumps and drops the speed a lot.

The same magic that made my car! The Germans have discovered magic. Hopefully they make it reliable.

nice. I've never been Lower than 17 I think. It is actually really good on gas. It does about the same as out old 2006 odyssey did daily, and obviously way better than that on the highway. Our new '13 odyssey did 27.8 today.

I've actually done better than that daily, but most if my former daily commute was on the highway.

27.3???? Are you kidding me? I drive a 140 hp 4 banger car that is only 11 years old and it only does 23. Mind you that's city, so highway I'd probably be close.

It gets really good mileage, and it doesn't even have cylinder deactivation or direct injection.

You know it's funny you mention the 4 banger. I had a 91 crx for 10 years. Before I started modding it the car would get 43 -45 mpg highway all day long. Funny it too manufacturers another 20 years and hybrids and diesels to do what they did in the late 80s and early 90s. Safety regs ruined fun to drive efficient cars.

Safety reg = complexify and add weight.

You must have been on the highway the entire time, and verrrrrry light on the throttle.

Same here. I am doing a bit of a road trip tomorrow and I am aiming for 30. Amazing how something with 3 times the power and more weight is getting close to the same mileage.

It was all highway except for a gas/food stop and two rest area stops. I pretty much was just in 6th the whole time except for a coupke of downshift passes. I really was trying to see how well I could do. I was laughing thinking that I was hypermiling a mustang.
