Jeep Compass SRT-6

Kinja'd!!!

Its been a long time since I got a Brilliant Idea, but I am pretty fond of this one. The idea is simple. When Jeep introduced the Grand Cherokee SRT-8 in 2005 they tried to take all of its capability off-road and invert it exactly the other way around to give it capability on the road. That is exactly the same ideals behind the Compass SRT-6

Kinja'd!!!

The Compass, although not the most hardcore Jeep Off-Roader, is plenty cappable when the gowing gets rough. So, using the same method as its bigger sister, you first need a bigger enigne. This is where the Pentastar V6 from the Dodge Challenger comes in. Why the Dodge Challenger? Because it has the highest horsepower from any other Pentastar equiped Chrysler product giving 305 HP and 268 lb.-ft. of torque. Just imagine this, the smalles small crossover with the most powerfull engine in its class.

Damn, to put this into perspective, the Audi RS Q3 has 306 HP. Just 1 Less than the Jeep Compass SRT-6 Would have! Now I've got your attention haven't I.

As the Grand Cherokee SRT-8, it would be lowered, and fitted with performance suspenion. Improved steering and brembo brakes should make this SUV drive as it deserves. Transmission can be the 9 Speed Auto from the 200, or, if Jeep is REALLY cool, the 6 speed manual from the Challenger. Interiorwise, bring the bucket seats, SRT details, proper steering wheel/gear selector, and thats about it.

Price for this, the return of the SRT-6 Name? $36,000 to $40,00 and we have the sports SUV bargain of the century. We can give the Compass one last Hurrah!

Something along the lines of this was brought up a few months back and I love it. I think Jeep missed an opportunity like this with the Rallye package.

I've always felt the Oldsmobile Bravada would make a great hot suv. It's basically a "luxury" Typhoon - the turbo. Adding a turbo is not that hard.

Why is it that the Compass looks leagues better than the Cherokee?

The Compass is based on the old Caliber, isn't it? Couldn't they just slap in the 2.4L Turbo from it and call it a day? The Pentastar + tranny from a Challenger wouldn't work as the car is FWD.

Because whoever designed the new Cherokee wanted to re-do the Fiat Multipla! Fiat wanted to disguise it as another car, and owning Jeep was the best chance

I know, I meant it as being AWD that comes already in the Compass. Or they would have to rework it so it would be improved for performance

I'd rather this be done to the Patriot. I think it's smaller, and looks better IMO.

Kinja'd!!!

I'm pretty sure the Patriot and Compass are built on the same platform as well.

You are right, they are. I just think the Compass is more street oriented.
