Kinja'd?

But yes, I've seen those before. They also make spinners and whatnot. It's so tempting to just buy absolutely everything I can fit on my bike.

Oh man, I got schooled on the trail on Monday, this guy just BLEW by me at an incredible rate of speed. But at the end of the day maybe 3 or 4 people passed me and I passed in excess of 10. I like that people are really good at pulling over to let you pass, I try to do the same, haha.

you need turbospoke man. I am the same on the trail. there are always a few of those riders that just make you realize how slow you are.

wow... just watched the video, that is rridiculous lol, I'm sure people at the trail would really appreciate it!

What sort of bike do you ride? I'm just using my cousins spare bike for now, it's go front suspension and that's about as fancy as it gets. I've been trolling craigslist but am not sure I want a 26" or a 29" wheel... The 29er's seem to be all the rage these days with some people going as far as saying the 26 inchers will all but disappear. What do you think?

I ride a 2008 gary fisher marlin disk with a fox fork. It depends on what type of riding you are going to do. 26" wheels are not going away any time soon. If you look at manufacturer sites almost a majority of trail bikes are 26". For tighter more technical trails, 26" is better, and for faster trails, 29" is better, because it rolls faster. Most downhill and single track bikes are 26" while cross country bikes tend to be 29" these days. Mine is 26" and I get smoked by the guys on 29" on fast trails. I like the smaller wheels though. They are quick as opposed to fast. I also ride an '81 fuji road bike on the road.

Hah, I have a Fuji road bike too! Not quite sure what year it is. It certainly is old, it has the manual adjust gears, no distinct click from one gear to the next.

I'm thinking I'll be sticking to 26" or perhaps if I can find a reasonably priced 27.5" I'd go for that. I like the idea of that hybrid sort of size, it averages benefits from both sizes. I do mostly trail riding, it can vary a lot so I think I'd rather have the versatility of the 26 or 27.5 rather than the all out speed of the 29. I also imagine a 26 is easier on the uphills than a 29 would be?

here is an interesting tidbit about 27.5. http://www.bikemag.com/gear/exclusive…

also if you are deciding between the two, remember, forks, wheels, tires, and frames even tend to be more expensive for 27.5 wheels because they are so new.

My fuji has non-indexed shifters too. The cool thing about them is that you can upgrade your wheels and rear cassette and not have to change them because there are no index positions to be wrong. I went from the stock 6 speed rear end to a modern 8 speed cassette and newer lighter wheels. Its like a brand new bike, and I didn't have to change shifters or derailleur.

Those old fujis can be gems. They tend to have way better frames than the schwinns etc of the time (for the price). Mine is a grand sport se I believe.
