So there's this 1/3 mile oval near my house called Barrie Speeday. It's a pretty awesome place to go on a Saturday night. They have all the normal series: 4 Cylinder Pure Stocks (Stock 4 bangers made before 2000, mostly Fox Mustangs, 240SXs, Neons, 2nd Gen Preludes, etc.), V8 Thunder Cars (V8 powered american cars made before 2000) and Limited Late Models. But they also have a class called King Of The Hill. Basically spectators sign their personal cars up and race each other, elimination style at halftime. Since the lease on my Civic is up in two months, I decided to enter and have some fun. I had driven my 944 on this track several times, but this was the first time I had driven a front wheel drive car here. My civic is a bone stock 2012 EX Coupe.
Long story short I easily beat a V6 powered Chrysler 200. I was happy about this though because the girl driving the 200 was a former V8 Thunder Car driver at the track. But I was absolutely destroyed by a turbo Dodge Neon. I caught him in the final corner, thought about tapping him (I mean, rubbin's racin' right?), but I think this guy cared a lot about his neon.
It was fun, and I learned the Civic is an absolute blast above 5000rpm. It's pretty useless below that though. The whole thing was won buy a seriously built '99 Civic SiR. There was even a kamikaze redneck in a 5.0L powered Ford Ranger that he called the "Truckstang". The guy almost hit the wall several times, and nearly wrecked everyone around him. Hella entertaining.
Support your local short track. They're a blast.

Was the Grand am driver an arrogant teenage guy, or an arrogant teenage girl? Those are the only people that still drive what I assume is a Grand am GT, Right? Also I miss having a sunroof that pops up instead of folding in.

I bet Mr SiR owner felt the same, VTEC kicks in at 5200 and it's so fun from there to 8200
