It lives!

Last time I posted anything was to announce my proud purchase of a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , that did not have a running engine, among other things.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Before I got the parts I ordered I wanted to make sure the engine ran. So I "borrowed" 2 spark plug wires from the only other vehicle on the lot with distributor style sp wires, blocked off the fuel rail, and set up a can of injector cleaner to run through the test port. Amazingly it ran smoothly, no for long, but I was just glad it didn't miss/knock.

Also while waiting for parts I managed to free up the rear window with some force and silicone spray. Now I can put the tailgate down, and see that the tailgate straps are holding on by a thread. Hooray!

Finally all the parts where assembled on Friday so I installed the new pump and level sensor on to the sending unit, installed all that into the new tank. Cleaned out the lines, installed a new fuel filter, and put the tank in. I lazily only installed the 2 missing plug wires (for now), the belt, and belt tensioner.

To my surprise nothing froze, and everything works! The A/C compressor, alternator, cooling system, P/S pump, air pump (emissions devise) all work! The next day while I was at work it let it sit for about 3 hours with the a/c set to max and nothing leaked, squeaked, rattled, or came apart. So far so good with the drivetrain, I've even managed to get it to shift into second gear. I don't dare take it much faster since the left front wheel is the only one with working brakes. That's next.

Here are some more images of the vehicle.

Finally took the bug deflector off.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Manual transfer case.

So much room for activities!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

It's only fitting I would buy a vehicle with a New Jersey history, you bet those commuter suckers are staying.

Parts list so far

RockAuto: Fuel tank, fuel pump, wires, plugs, thermostat, fuel filler cap. $210 with shipping

Ford dealership: Fuel level sensor, belt, tensioner, fuel filter. $215 over the counter.

Yeah it must have been stored in a building or something because there is no uv rot on anything.
