I think you should put a Boxster drivetrain into the xb driving the rear wheels. Then you can have a Boxster in a box.

If it is more about shape than engine performance... that is already done, too.

Not significantly less boxy or spartan than a Scion, yet a substantially better and more capable AWD platform.
