I fixed my garage door opener! This weekend, a couple of pieces of my dad's (he's a contractor) scaffolding fell from their perch in the corner of my garage, and onto the trunk lid of my Buick. Fortunately, it appears that the scratches will buff out, and hooray for heavy gauge steel, there are no dents!

Unfortunately, they whacked the sensor out of alignment on their way down, so the door wouldn't work. No amount of aligning seemed to work, when I noticed that the wire had also gotten cut by the bars. Sliced them back together, and SHAZAM!

Maybe it seems like a shop teacher shouldn't be so surprised/happy about being able to fix something, but I get a genuine rush whenever I fix something that I've never worked on before. Above is a picture of my now accessible, but still very messy garage. That big hole in the middle is where my wife parks her Mazda 3.

I honestly don't remember how those scaffolding pieces ended up at my house. I've never used the scaffolding, and it isn't even enough pieces to do anything with, yet these pieces have been sitting there since I moved in four years ago. They've now been kicked out of the garage, and will be dropped on Dad's doorstep next time I go there!
