I didn't get a chance to talk to the owner as I had just stopped in to the drug store for a moment but there it was in the parking lot. A 1957 Pontiac Memphian ambulance in black. Gleaming in the sunlight.
It was a nice treat to see. The care appears to be a Superior body and inside was an original cot and some blankets from the era as well. I could not see how many miles were on the clock and I hung around for a bit hoping to catch the owner of it to ask a few questions. Sadly I had to leave before they came out so I was not able to get those gritty details we all like.
While there the car did attract a lot of attention with at least 3 other people snapping pictures of it along with me. The owner appears to have done a lot of research on the car and they had even posted some copies of original booklets on the car in the window.
It appeared to be really straight and the chrome was in pretty nice shape. I would hate to know what it would cost to re-plate all the brightwork on this baby if it was a bit of a basket case!
And yes, that is a "For Sale" sign in the window and there was a price written on it. I have to say that at $15k he was right on the money for a nice solid classic like this. I hope whoever buys it enjoys.

If I had 15k in my pockets, I would buy that car. It would have been cool if there was medical equipment in the back.

The only medical stuff that was in the back of it was the original stretcher for the car and some medical blankets from the 50's. That was all. As for where it is, the car is located in Kingston Ontario

I saw a '57 Pontiac sedan on the road yesterday. Some local car show must've been on, seemed to be specializing in Chevies, but a Pontiac was sneaking in.
