I'm not going to talk you out of it. In fact, you should sell your ST and buy this.

My dad worked at a Mercedes dealership when I was young and the 190E always got my attention if there was one parked on the forecourt out front.

I really love the ageless beauty of the 190E (Cossie or not).

Manual or Auto?

If manual, go get it. Because Dog-leg transmission.

10/10 would hoon. 1/10 would try to talk you out of buying it, because he wants to buy it instead of you. Actually, you shouldn't buy this. So where is it located and how much is he asking?

In another 20 years, this thing is gonna worth a whole lot more. Buy it, and then change the headlights to the euro ones, it looks a lot better.

There's a simple 190e equation. If manual yes.

Bwahahahaha. That's worth closer to a tenth of that. CP doesn't begin to cover it.

Don't buy it. It's not a poor-man's M3 or anything close, it's a slightly warm 190e. That makes it pretty dull to drive. Because of the era and country association with the M3, though, people have a completely false idea of what the 190 Cossie could do, should do, was intended to do, and so pay massively more than they're worth.

They're decidedly unJalop cars, because you get less performance and interestingness for more money instead of more for less.

Huh? A 190E in "pristine" condition is worth $1600?? Where on earth do you live?

The Euro Cossie is a pretty rare ass car in the US, regardless of performance... yes, a 2014 Camry will outrun it but that's not really the point.

'Closer to', I said. More than that, but closer to that end than $16k.

I live in the UK, for what that's worth. Here they go for more like...

Hmm.

Hmmm.

Hmmmm...

My usual go-to source only has one, and it's up for $18k?! WTF?!

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/car-advert/mer…

Someone's having a bubble...

Check ebay UK instead, ah, that's better:

Here's one of the best, couple hours to go, £4k:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Very-Rare-…

Classified for a slightly less nice one, £5k asking price:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-B…

'Stunning' - very optimistic pricing at £8k, I reckon:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-B…

Running, driving minor project, classified askng £3.5k:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-1…

They seem to have gone up a little from when I last looked, but not all that much.

Not to do with the performance, really - although performance is always a factor, of course. That's just ludicrously overpriced. You would have to be insane to buy that instead of the many other things you could have for the price - or be dropping money that to you is a throwaway amount.
