Bean counters were the good guys in the 60s.

They left back door options so you could buy that big block Nova or Tempest or Hemi Dart.

Going OHC was an expensive option for Pontiac.

When that engine option would have cost as much as the car it was in it wasn't worth it.

true as that is, they must've been nascar fans (not as bad as it is today), because a lightweight engine would have helped develop a more handling-oriented package.
