You can believe what you like about whether the stuff works and/or is harmless, but there's no need to keep paying rip-off prices. You can buy the basic ingredients and make your own (just by mixing them together in a bottle) for a tenth of the price.

And still a rip-off at that price.

This is a valid point, but then again, I was surprised people sold pre-bottled two-stroke fuel. Some people are prepared to pay for convenience, it seems (that, and the pre-bottled two-stroke fuel was more similar to classic "white gas" + synthetic, rather than modern pump blend).

I really don't care it is cheap enough for me. It is way cheaper than Royal Purple's version for $15.

Raw materials are always cheaper than the final product, because producing something involves planning, labor, and the consumption of other things involved in production that the materials themselves do not and will not.

Making a thing yourself v. paying someone else to is only cheaper all of the time if you assume your time and energy have zero value. It's true that seafoam is significantly more expensive per part that it's ingredients. It's also true that Diesel, Naphtha and Heet, are sold by the quart or gallon and not by part. You will spend more buying the ingredients v. a single can of seafoam. You might be making more than you actually planned for or need to use, and you may have waste/left over ingredients that you then have to deal with yourself.

That's true, have you seen the price of bovine organic fertiliser these days?

"It's also true that Diesel, Naphtha and Heet, are sold by the quart or gallon and not by part."

And you can buy a quart of each for less than ten bucks in total, can't you? So shake up a soft-drinks bottle full of the stuff and keep it on your shelf for next time.

"you may have waste/left over ingredients that you then have to deal with yourself."

Well, just pour them in your gas tank... ;)
