Kinja'd!!!

For qualifications, would it be wrong for me to put I know pretty much everything there is to know about most Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/Ram vehicles? I'm blank in a few areas, but general information I'm pretty good for.

Maybe I should apply at a Chevy dealer.

There really isn't much for a 16-year-old to do at a dealership that would require that kind of knowledge though, it's not like I'll be a salesman.

Which leads me to another question, what position to apply for?

As a fellow 16 year old, ill tell you its nearly impossible to get a job at these dealers doing much. Many have insurance companies that require you to be 18 to even touch the cars. If anything, youd be a lot porter (just cleaning stuff)

I would add something like "Extensive knowledge on current Fiat Group Offerings"

Its sad, but I only know because I wanted to work at one so badly

Now I bag groceries. When im 18 though im going to try and get into selling cars..

Good luck though! Hope I didnt burst your bubble

SRT Exhibition specialist, I like the sound of that.

Tool room tech, what do they do?

If I were you, I would NOT put that you know a lot of stuff. Some will write it off as you being a know it all kid, and some others will take it as aggression and not go further with you because they feel like they are being challenged.

As for position, put "any open position". I used to do that when looking for a job. It would sometimes at least get me a call back and start a discussion. I would think that would be a good start, at least get your name/face in their minds and give you a chance to tell them what you are looking for.

I think some luxury car dealers have "product specialists', which sounds perfect for somebody that can (and likes to) remember tons of otherwise useless shit about cars.

"Owner" might be hard to lie about, considering I'd constantly roll in in a different GM vehicle.

lot tech. And no they don't care about knowledge. If you are a ginger you could apply for a sales position. They're looking for people with no souls.

16? You can only be a lot boy/porter. You move cars around and wash them.

I'm just applying at every business in a 10 mile radius to my house. I doubt I'd get a job at a dealer.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm just gonna go up there tomorrow and talk to someone rather than fill the application out.

i'd imagine the tech's have their own toolboxes, but speciality tools and electronics might have a room...if i was running a dealership shop i'd hire kids with thin arms to get to the hard to reach bolts....

This. At age 16, getting experience in "any" job will help you get a better one in a couple years.

Captain Ron said it best; "You do your job. You do it good, you get a better job. Maybe you get promoted from swab to mate."

It's definitely helpful to put your knowledge about the cars. These days, some dealerships have Sales Assistants to help the older sales man pair peoples' phones to their bluetooth and show them how the touch screen works and all the in-dept features. A lot of times you also go on most of the test drives because you know everything about the cars and the salesman can get a price while you're keeping them busy.
