1 second over 8 miles + is pretty damn good. Especially when accounting for setup & strategy differences on a test day. Do they know peak speeds on Mulsanne or on the run to Indianapolis? Is one marque significantly faster than another? I'd say let's see how quali comes out before passing judgement on BOP, and in any case it won't matter so much in the race when tire management & fuel economy come to the fore.

I'd say that's a pretty close BOP, a pro driver can cause you 2 seconds, especially on a track that big. Since it was just testing, it may be hard telling what the specific test program the teams had in mind was as well.
