I know! I know! Shut the fuck up about caddy already. Let me promise you, I'm no fanboy. I've never owned a Cadillac, I repaired them, and fuckin' a, I should hate them by now. But I don't. Know why? There has never been a company who has had their shit together more than cadillac. I can wax poetic for hours on their cars, their place in culture, or what they signify to the working class like myself. But fuck all that. I just realized- Did I ever tell you what cadillac has to do with me, or what they have to do with my automotive obsession? Did I ever tell you about the first time I laid eyes on a cadillac, as a car, not some sort of magical spaceship for transporting rich old people around, genuinely stopping to look at cadillac? Hell, my petrol-headedness can trace its way back to one car and one car only……..a 1984 Buick Skyhawk T-Type. But that was just the seed. The plant ended up blossoming and eventually making me the man I am today is Cadillac. The King of Cars. The Standard of the World. Oh your BMW is the ultimate driving machine? that's cool. Your S-Class Benz contributed more to automotive history than any other line? Neato. Your Lexus has better J.D. Power rankings than any other car in history? Cute. Let me present a counter: Cadillac. You hear that? every man on oppo just had his heart beat a little faster. Every woman thought "shit, dat style". Know why? there is no other brand in the world that is more important than cadillac. Rolls Royce is the only other car that comes close in brand recognition, and the sad part about roller is that most people will never own one. I almost had one for my first car, but that's a story for a different time. Coca-Cola. Corvette. Elvis. McDonalds. Cadillac. But I digress- first time I ever really looked at a cadillac- Around 2004- looking at a DeVille next to an Escalade ESV next to a hummer H1. Probably 2am. Stopped on our way to the hospital so my dad can throw up. I'm sitting in the back of his '93 T-bird LX. I look out of the smallish triangular window and see one of the last new DTSs with night vision for sale. Now that's a car, I think to myself. Fast forward 2 years- my parents are divorced and my mom is introducing me to her boyfriend- a Cadillac salesman by the name of Chris (my future stepdad, didn't know it at the time) after a month of dating, him and my mom decide its time for me and his kids to meet. He picked us up in his 2005 STS. I've said it before and I'll say it again- I'll never forget the smell of that leather. That was my first experience with a true luxury car. I grew up in 80s toyota pickups and beat up fords. This was the first time (I was 12) I set foot in a luxury car. From that day on, I have decided that when I have a choice, go luxury. When I have a choice, go big american sedan. When I have a choice, go cadillac. these cars fucking rule. Every last one of them is built with genuine pride. Enjoy your Cadillac. You earned it.

As long as we stay focused on the high points, I agree. I'm not sure whether the STS is the best example of Cadillac having their shit together, however that car in the lead pic might be the classiest thing imaginable.

Honestly in my opinion Cadillac is just getting its shit back together in the last few years. There stuff now is just getting to the level where it actually competes with the Germans and the Japanese. But dat O.G. shit is off the hook.

Haha, That's all correct. They're just recovering from the early 2000's and are done with being exposed to Swangas, drug dealers, and donkification.

Anyone else noticed how weirdly similar Cadillac and Jaguar are. Both made legendary cars 50 years ago, both went through a dark period in the 2000s, now both going through a resurgence. Plus both of them are like attainable luxury.
