*Gets email asking to schedule phone interview*
*replies to email with times asked for. Neglects to provide phone number as requested*
*gets to chase email with second email containing information not in the first email*
*significantly decreases odds of getting job*

Nah. Shit happens. If they're using time & spending money to contact I doubt they'll just give up. You don't usually interview people you don't want.

>apply for job
>immediately leave house
>arrive at gas station, one missed call, one VM
>it's the place I applied to calling me back ~15 minute later
I'm scared.

Speaking as someone who has been the guy sending the email to schedule the phone interview, so many people take multiple emails to get that stuff scheduled that if you're not 100% A-plus efficient in getting the interview scheduled, it's not reducing your chance of getting the job.
As long as you sent the times along, and your resume has your phone number on it, the person emailing you probably got you on their calendar if they're at least halfway decent at their job (or don't have some kind of stick up their rear about he didn't give me a phone number even though the phone number is already on his resume ).

If you want to guarantee you get it, include in the second email that you don't actually have a phone, because aliens use phone signals to control people's brains. Insist to have the interview in person. That will impress them.

I've got a job that when I sent in my 'Resume attached' email without the resume attached and had to be informed by HR that my resume was in fact NOT attached and had to resend it attached.

I assume he is decent because I've been contacted less than 24 hours after submitting my application. The interesting thing is I don't meet the minimum requirements of the job and they still contacted me. I have a connection way up the food chain in the company but I also applied for 2 other jobs at the same company that I am significantly more qualified for but they are jobs that are probably farther down the corporate ladder than this one.

I concur.
I got my foot in the door there because my buddy worked there for a while and he/they were mutually in love with one another. the further through the interview process I got, the more I realized it was a straight up dog-and-pony show.

The thing about "minimum requirements" on job descriptions is they're really more like guidelines. The recruiter or HR person typically meets with the hiring manager and knows what needs to be on a candidate's resume in order for that person to make it through the process.
Those minimum requirements on the job description sure are handy if you need to rule out a candidate for some other reason though. "Oh, well we really need someone with at least 6 years of experience and you have 4, I wish I could move you forward but the hiring manager is pretty firm on that."

Yeah the minimum requirements for this one include software experience that I don't have. It also includes a bachelors degree which i do have. The other two jobs I applied for have a bachelors degree preferred, but high school diploma as required.

Software requirements can always have tradeoffs. Even software developers. I worked in HR at a company where all of their software developers worked in Java, but they'd consider candidates with no Java experience for mid-to-senior level developer jobs if they had experience in some other language like C#.
The best advice I can give you is that there's always going to be something going on behind the scenes, so there's no sense in ruling yourself out just because you're not a 100% match for what's on the description. Because there could be any number of scenarios where that's fine.

Yeah that was why I applied anyhow. I've grown up with computers and am not intimidated by learning to use any type of software. I did pass on the management position that said they needed someone with a masters degree and a CPA. That's one I can go after internally after they know who I am, but externally that would be a stretch.
