I just finished it. After only been watching the British version it's pretty lackluster. But I do like Rutledge and Tanner. The drag cars we badass. And the Camaro was insanely powerful.

I enjoyed it. Sweet rides! I love that they went with Resto mods but I wish they actually used the cars for something other than racing in a straight line. The charger and the camaro seemed to be track MONSTERS from what I could see.

What may seem odd was it was actually the US top gear was what got me started on the British one, and while I think the fist season of the US version was crap, I have liked all of the ones since, but I still wish they would do like they did in the first 2 seasons where they went back to the hanger and discussed it.

I think Rutledge is my favorite of the 3 presenters

The US version got me into the British one as well. I enjoy both. But I think the presenting is far better in the British one. The US version seems very scripted to me.

I agree, but I think the us version has gotten much better from the first season, it still seems scripted, but not quite as much now as in the first couple seasons

Warning: Spoilers... so skip this if you haven't yet seen the episode.

1: Good to see the show back, it isn't the same as UK version, but it is good entertainment value.

2: Rutledge.... I thought you were a NASCAR aficionado, and knew about cars!

A Dodge Charger would not be wearing The King, Richard Petty's 43 in STP colors.

The King drove Plymouths, and he would have had a 72 Road Runner GTX, rather than a Charger SE. (and I would have preferred a GTX as well, for a 72 B-body Mopar resto-mod... with an SRT 392 engine... For Chargers, 68-70 is far more iconic than 71-73.)

3: I kind of felt sorry for Adam, not getting to drag race, but them's the breaks... or the brakes, as the case may be.

4: a Viper V10 Drag Pack Challenger is TOOO MUCH CAR FOR A Novice-level drag racer.

What a wheel stand! Obviously, if Rut had had the nuance of a lot more experience, and had been able to keep the nose down like the second run, the Challenger was likely a bit faster of a car than the CobraJet.

5: The Camaro was gorgeous, as would be expected.... and a monster.

6: I am sure it was a nice car, but I still am under-whelmed by 'remake-gone in 6o seconds' "Eleanor" GT500 1968 Shelbys. The Coyote 5.0 500hp tuned engine is the best part of that car. I'd rather it had been a Highland Green GT390 resto-mod... as a Bullitt tribute car.

it's done now, but yes holy crap, that really was a wheel stand. I think they could have done decently with the cars they drove in the first part, 720 hp is still too much for adam

And you would have thought that unless it was scripted, that Rutledge would not have mashed the gas so much on the third run to beat Tanner since it seems like they always make Tanner win.

I am not sure how much that is "making" Tanner win via scripting... Tanner is a trained and experienced driver, where Rut and Adam aren't nearly as experienced at motorsport competition. Street driving isn't quite the same thing. Rut's forte is knowledge about cars and the industry, and Adam... is Adam. A new york comedian, the plucky comic relief, and the wrecker. Three quite different hosts to like for different reasons.

Driving talent, and developed skill through experience do count.

I liked it, bit confused why they did muscle cars again but I'm not gonna complain. Overall, good start to the series.
