No SR20, but I saw an unmodified late model Civic with a Brodie knob on the steering wheel today. The dude was clearly not disabled and the car did not have hand controls. I can think of no explanation for this.

My dad always called them necker knobs because they allowed you to drive and "neck" with your girl. Ah, the days of bench seats and no seat belts.

Brodie knob? You mean suicide knob?
How many different names are there for things....

I've always known them as suicide knobs. Not sure what a handicap has to do with it, I've always used them to whip the wheel around extra fast. Great for field boggin'

I always knew them as Brodie knobs. Since my GIS using the term worked, I'm assuming that was a common enough term for them.

It's common for folks that use hand controls but have limited use/strength in their hands to have them on their steering wheel.

Suicide knob did bring up a few as well.
I'm just kinda surprised at how many names there are for different things, not just these knobs, but other things.
I can't think of examples right now, but just in talking to my friend from Carolina, like a Bubbler.

That's strange, some prefer it I guess? Maybe an Off-Duty truck driver, Lol.

Hey now, I love the Brodie knob on my end loader at work, makes turning while having a hand on the bucket/fork sticks so much easier.

A suicide knob has a reason to be on the loader, I've driven a few, and simply clutching the wheel and turning doesn't work.
I just tihnk Brodie knob is a weird name..
