....because part # 172174 does not fit mexican built Chevrolet Cavaliers, only American built Chevrolet Cavaliers.

I will be getting KYB's SR4024...because they will actually fit the car...and is pretty much the only complete strut assembly for Mexican built strut assemblies in the front.

What if.....I do the Monroe's in the back and the KYB's in the front...would this make the car dangerous in anyways? Both are recommended OEM replacements. I am not sure I want to do that....but I may because I can get the Monroe's a lot quicker...and I designated this entire saturday for this, which won't work out if I don't have parts.

Thanks for reading Oppo.

I'd probably match them to keep the sketchy factor down, but it's really up to you.

It's completely fine, seems a little silly but there is no real reason you can't mix them. Weird problem.

It's a matter of I kind of want to get this project underway...and the following weekend I am camping.

According to Monroe: The inner fender wells of the American car's are bigger and so with the (I am assuming bigger) Monroe strut assembly springs, it scrapes the fender well somehow.

It is a weird problem....all the Monroe struts have this big disclaimer "Do not use on cars with 11 vin digit "S". Guess what My 11th vin digit is. lol.

Just another day in the life of an incompetent car person (the first clue is I drive a Cavalier...hahaha).

Yeah, I'm pretty much only finding front struts and just shock absorbers for the rear from SACHS. If you're gonna mix manufacturers, I'd still go with SACHS ;)

Hahah oh right. I need a complete assembly. I am a novice wrencher...I am not compressing springs. No...damn way.

Yeah, that's the one thing SACHS is working on is increasing their coverage for quick struts.

I just ordered 4 KYB's for $486 USD. I would love for them to arrive saturday...but not likely since coming from some state I know nothing about called Deleware. Can't even name one city in that state.

Decided to order 4 KYB's and not fulfill the stereotype of being the world's cheapest car owners. Don't think they will come in time from wrenching this saturday. Oh well.
