Has anyone here ever made a go kart from a kick start, hit and miss engine?

I didn't know kick-started hit-and-miss engines were a thing. Most to all I've seen start with a crank or pull cord. That being said, a lot of go-karts don't have a reverse, and one with a hit-and-miss engine implicitly would, though in a stupid way...

Sure is a thing , but I'm not sure my actual engine is hit and miss now that I think about it. Are you good with old engine identification?

I think typically a hit-and-miss engine as a class has passive cooling, magneto ignition, incomplete valvetrain (i.e. exhaust only), low compression, high dependence on flywheel to run (low Rs), and drip oiling. There are probably engines that comport well enough to most of these that they slide on one or more points. As a result of design (i.e. no directional pumps, no required valvetrain direction), most are reversible.

I actually don't think mine is hit and miss. It's a Briggs and Stratton Model Y, I've just found out.

Nice. If it's half-horse, like some sources seem to suggest, it won't make a *fast* go-kart, but I don't see why you can't make one. You really ought to make one out of an old sled, though, or go really vintage-style:

I want something old school. I also want something I can pick up, and that's small enough to fit on the roof rack of my wagon.

So, basically like that "Pushmobile".
