I replaced the terrible Michelin Pilot Sport run-flats on my C5 with Dunlop Direzzza DZ102s and GAWD what a difference! I mean, you people weren't kidding when you said they were horrible! The car rides WAY better and gets much less upset by mid-corner bumps. It's a different machine. I can't believe how soul-destroying the old tires were. I'm curious to see if my average fuel economy will change...
Up next: install this MGW shifter! (the box has been sliding around in the back since Friday)

Have you bypassed the column lock already?

You know, I keep thinking about that. I have not, but I'm not positive the previous owner didn't already take care of it...

Another convert to regular tires!
Now we just need you to put Pilot Super Sports on the C5 and all will be well. Judging by how it changed the character of my Z4 for the better...

Yeah, the price was right on these Direzzas, so I bought the hell out of them. We'll see if I run out of tire or talent first.

It's only running out of talent if you rearrange the fiberglass.

changing the shifter wont take long, longest part will be taking off the console (putting a pro 5.0 in my trans am anyhow, cant think of why it would be different in your C5) enjoy relearning the throws! :)

Thanks! I'm planning to do it this weekend. Or maybe earlier if I ever get home from work with motivation to do anything other than drink myself to sleep.

in my trans am I pulled the shift knob off, pulled boot off, removed console, removed shifter stick (allen wrench), removed lower boot, undid 4 bolts holding shifter, popped old one off (may have to carefully pry up), put rtv on new one and reverse the process. Shifter should have come with instructions to follow also, in an hour or so you should be driving with much crisper shifts! Just make sure the shifter stick bolts are tight... if not the stick may or may not end up moving fowards or back when your trying to shift without actually shifting. (Not that this has happened to me coming through a gate and I had to grab the little nub and shift to first...)

Pick up some some Z06 sway bar end links and you will really take advantage of the new rubber.

The MGW for the C5 includes a new lower shift box as well. It's a bit more involved than a transmission-mounted shifter like in your F-body. I need to remove the forward shift shaft and install it in the new shift box, align everything, and install a bunch of heat shielding too. I watched video of the install and think I can do it in an hour or two.
