These 70s-80s ads with the 0-50 times crack me up. What they don't tell you is that the top speed is around the 85 that the speedo indicates, which means getting from 50 to 60 will take another five seconds.

Federally mandated speed limit was 55. They couldn't legally say 0-60. I know for a fact the turbo version of that car would do a 110MPH flat out and 0-60 in about 8 seconds stock. We used to bury the speedo on my friends mom's car in high school, and once we figured out how to turn up the boost, many Mustang GT owners got quite a surprise at the stop light.
