I've been searching for a shift knob like this for a while, to put on the e30, and it seems they are pretty rare and definitely expensive. So now, since I have some wood lathing experience, I'm considering just turning one out for myself.

Does anyone have a shift knob like this on their BMW? The one pictured is an Alpina one, but BMW had something almost exactly the same for the 2002, 635csi, etc.. I'd love to have some overall reference dimensions of the knob, and the diameters of the head and stem. Some straight-on side views would be great as well.

Who knows, if it turns out well(get it?) I may end up making a few of them if others are interested.

I have the exact one, but BMW logo. Let me go snap some pics for you. Also, working on a lathe with wood is the most fun. In HS I'd make something new every week in my free time.

Oh man, thanks so much! I figured this would be a long shot. Now to pick out woods and stains!
