I feel like Kia is too good these days for people to not know about how far they've come. None of them appeal to me but they are defiantly respectable.
My comments are the blue ones.

I really don't care for Kia, but it's a force to be recon with now. I made a bold claim during the Superbowl stating that I would take the Kia over the Maserati. I just don't trust the Maser's reliability. And the Kia is damn good looking.

Brand perception is a terrible thing. Nobody seems to actually want to see how a car really is and instead judges it based off of a badge.

Kia, them motherfuckers are tough-

I absolutely agree with this 100%. At first I could say, "well, it's a Kia." But then you look at what you're getting for that "Kia" price, and you realize it's way way more.
However, because of some good friends I have, Kia is a brand I could never own. It would be nightmare inducing for certain people, and I don't want to do that to anyone. I didn't even realize it until it was explained to me, and now I can understand it.

AHHH, that's a bad one. If I wasn't a car enthusiast and cared for luxo barges I would go for the Kia, but I'm young and stupid and only want 2 doors.

Ricers, not giving a fuck about actual badges since the eg civic

I respect them for that.

I wouldn't buy the K900, but only because I don't like how it looks exterior-wise.
The luxury car I would buy from Kia/Hyundai would be the new Genesis. So pretty.

Ha, we can't be that far apart in age, so let me introduce you to the dark side of being an enthusiast: luxo-barges are absolute rockets. Mercedes S600, for example. V12, some even have a Biturbo V12.
I'm not one for low riders myself, but as the saying goes "low and slow" is sometimes a nice change.
Four doors is also a saving grace for people in our age range. In a lot of cases, it makes or breaks the affordability of a car.

Agreed. But the K900 is essentially a Korean SS. But the SS is already overpriced and therefor the Kia is too. If Kia doesn't have a great revolution or something I feel like the K900 will go the way of the Maserati Chryslers. Interesting, but not worth your $3000.

Your friend thinks they can get an S class for 60k. So the argument is already invalid. That's E-Class money

We've got a huge Korean population here so no matter how they do nationally they're going to sell like hot cakes around me. I will be watching when they show up on the used market and could be interested if they hold up.

I know Kia's doing better, but having owned an early Kia, and had two other people close to me own Kias, I'm still a bit snakebitten.
I think if Kia is still solid after the next round of cars my family gets, I'll give them a look. Besides, there's a chance I'm looking at a possible Fiesta purchase in the future.

I wouldn't argue with anyone who thinks an S-Class starts anywhere near $60k.

The main thread of consistency I notice among extremely vocal critics of these cars are the critics inability to get a $60k car no matter who's making it.

Owning an upmarket Kia or Hyundai?
I would. I like the idea of value for money. I like the idea that I got something nice and yet still have money left over for something else. I managed to convince my dad's colleague to get an Optima over a Mazda 6, purely because she got so much for so little. She paid less than US$25,000 for it, and got the same level of equipment that a US$30,000 Mazda 6 would've cost.
And I for one know that they are completely different from what they used to be in the past, that past being extremely cheap plastics and engines that ran on lentils. Now you can get V8s and swathes of leather.
The only issue I have is which to choose - the K900 or the Genesis?

I would definitely take the Genesis. I really like the way the K900 looks, but I really do not think that grill suits that car well. And I feel that the Genesis would be more sporty, even though they are based on the same platform
