First a few good classic works of fiction that should be here tomorrow, and now I'm snooping out my next batch of technical reading. It's all Amazon Prime's fault, I tell ya! So what does Oppo read(technical or otherwise)?

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know of anywhere to get cheap, good measurement equipment? Proper calipers, T-guages, inside micrometers, etc.

I don't usually read technical stuff for pleasure. I stick mostly with fiction. Currently reading 'The Clockwork Century' series by Cherie Priest. Ayn Rand, Jack Kerouac, Kurt Vonnegut, Aldus Huxley, and more along those lines. As far as measurement tools go, my personal favorite brands are Mitutoyo and Fowler, but Storm seems to be ok for most automotive work and is the cheapest I would use. But then again when I usestorm stuff it's pretty much just for measuring brakes. I use the better stuff for engines. But I can be pretty picky about that stuff, since I used to work in a machine shop that manufactured high end medical and semi-conductor parts where tolerances were usually 0.0005".

some of the stuff that should be delivered today is Aldous Huxley, and I already have a bit of Vonnegut. Although I never really got into Rand, I've head it's quite good. I enjoy the technical reading because it offers different views on how everything works together and I typically come away from it with different approaches to problems, which is pretty cool.

The tools thing is a tough one because on one hand if you go ahead and buy really nice stuff, you'll have it forever, but on the other hand, that's a huge investment.

If I was in a different line of work I probably would read technical stuff for pleasure but Ihave enough technical reading to do for work the way it is, staying on top of changing technologies and all. You should be able to find adequate tools from pretty much any auto parts store. Oh, and Rand is my absolute favorite. Some people say she's nuts though. Take it with a grain of salt I suppose.
