I also had a bit of a dice with an NB MX-5 on my way back from work. He was performing involuntary colonoscopies in the corners, but whenever there was a straight that I could get into 3rd I pulled away. Overall, the ol' barge acquitted itself very well I feel. More pics and a kickass racing Jag after the jump.

It's great isn't it?

I can't help staring at the racing Jag. There's a strong desire to get another '40, swap in the supercharged I6 from a XJR, crank up the boost and pipe intakes to the inner headlights.

I've seen it in pictures before, parked next to a one-off XJ40 wagon. I'd really love to have both of them.

I really really want that estate '40. I'd love to have a go at making one, although adapting the C-pillar and wing would likely be rather tricky.

Well, there is always this:

It's not bad from what I've read.

Excellent car, but somehow not quite a good Jag.

Really not sure why, especially as the S-Type seems to have gained acceptance.

It's not really a good Jag because it is a Mondeo in disguise.

But it still is a wagon with AWD, big diesel engine and a Jaguar badge so it's still really cool to me.

Oh absolutely.

I have a vague recollection of reading about the changes between the Mondeo and this, specifically in the quality of their construction, and being surprised at how many things were different.

The basic structure is the same, along with most of the oily bits, but damn near everything else is different/better.
