And you click Automatic in the Autotrader filters and you know then and there you just triggered a clause that writes you off his will.

It's a joke HAHA. But my dad was like REALLY.

haha it would be the other way with my dad!
Who's getting the evo?

Looking for a cheap college car, just a regular base Lancer and occasionally I get bored and go look at EVOs. Same thing happened when I was looking at base Imprezas, ended up on a page of STIs.

WHY WOULD YOU CLICK AUTOMATIC?

Best way to learn is to have to learn.

Did you accidentally click automatic? because otherwise you're off my will too. Not that you were ever on my will but... Also, note to self, draw up will...

Is it really "can't?" Or is it more like "don't know how to?"
Because if you have a legitimate injury or something, that's understandable. I couldn't have a manual in high school because i had a lazy brother to share the car with, who refused to drive a manual. So I feel your pain if it's the parents putting the kibosh on a manual (it's their money, don't fight it).
But if it's just because you don't know how, then COME ON. Like someone else said already, a trial by fire is the best way to learn to drive a manual anyway.

ehh, I think autos aren't all that bad. I drove my automatic jeep yesterday, and realized it was a nice break from the manual in my e36. Also, I was able to bomb down dirt roads at speed. There is a use for every car.

ok seriously. Just say where you are and an OPPO with a manual will be there shortly.

Ah I see. The Lancer GTS is a great performance bargain but BUT it's just paddle shift :(
Though about an E39 5-series? I know it sounds like a pretty weird suggestion but they handle like mad and are really reliable if you don't buy an abused one. They also look great and can fit friends or college stuff in the back! I don't know what your budget is but you can buy one for less than $5k EASY.

The only used car my dad would get is a Camry or a Corolla. D:

I'm actually back in California for like another 10 days before I have to go back to school for summer research. Can't go and see people though, my parents don't think that's safe. D:

only looking at new cars? BRZ!! New limiteds going for $24k near me! Pretty fuel efficient too. A slightly used mazdaspeed3 would be good too.

It's cause we don't have a manual at home and we actually don't know anyone that has a manual. We sold our last manual car right before I started learning how to drive, so my dad just said he'll teach me when he hits his mid-life crisis and he gets an STI or a 911 because he's sure he'll get those in a manual.

Yeaaaaaah. But I don't NEED a car really, just one to move things at the end of a year. Something like a Forester or an Outback, trying to save money for the car I get when I graduate :D

I was one of those people silently cheering when they ruined the WRX with a CVT.

It's fine, I own a DSG GTI, and enjoy it! Also, my roommate has a Lancer Ralliart with the same type of dual clutch gearbox that's in the Evo and I promise you that it is still VERY FUN to drive. The manual is a different experience, but the alternative is far from being a ruined car!

If you're in California than you most definitely have to go to irvine cars and coffee this week or next it's definitely something you don't want to miss.

I went there once. I think it was during Winter Break when I went.

C'mon man I was teaching a friend last night. It's basic. Just read up on theory, then get a few practices sessions, then you're ready to buy a stick! Best of luck in the pursuit. Don't settle
