Where else can you get this many cubic inches for $25,000? In a Corvette of course!
1970 Corvette, a guy I used to work with is selling. Mainly because he has a Spec Miata race car and a 2013 Boss 302 Mustang.
I've seen the car in person and I know it's in fantastic shape. The ad should speak for itself, if you're in the market for a 25k classic car this is the car to buy!
(no this post was not solicited by him in any way, saw him post the link to the CL ad on Facebook and had to share with you guys!)

I wish I had a picture of it,but there was a guy in my hometown growing up with a blown big block gold vette roadster running around town. Looked bone stock except for that honkin blower out through the hood. It was glorious, and loud as hell

'tego, it's your responsibility to let this guy know that the LS-5 454 and LT-1 350 are two different engines. :D
He also does not mention if the block and trans match the VIN. If it is an original LS-5 car it's priced pretty far on the low side.

He is aware. It is not a numbers matching car, it was turned into a 454. I'm sure he's including that it's an LT1 car only so someone could return it to stock form if they found an LT1 engine.
If it were a numbers matching 454 1970 Corvette in this condition it would be listed at 50k or even 75k.

Does he have the paperwork to prove it was originally an LT-1 car?

I'm sure the VIN and matching title would indicate that.

We had a guy running around in a gold T/A with a 455 Olds motor (it was hand stenciled on the side of the air dam that used to run around. Damn that thing was fast, compared to the early to late 80's crapboxes we drove at the time. My '78 cutlass would beat a late 80's 300z tho!

lol was just talking about my buddys built 78 Cutlass yesterday he had growing up. We got clocked at 122 MPH running from some (M)assholes who pulled a gun on us (just for driving a cool car I guess) and were in chase with some hooptie I dont remember. Cop had us over for about 30 seconds till he took off after them. Never heard the outcome

No and no. VIN did not indicate engine (other than V8) until 1972 in Chevrolets. Title won't say it and DMV people botch listings all the time so even if it did list "LT-1" people would dismiss it.
Sorry to be a picky bitch but 60's-70's authenticity is kind of my thing. Ha ha.
Maybe the NCRS has info to give him.

It's possible. I assumed because my 68 Mercury tells me engine/carb in the VIN that a Corvette would. And then the VIN would be on the title for evidence, not that the title would say LT-1 on it.
I would imagine (knowing him) he has proof of authenticity of some kind.
I have it easy because of how much info the Montego has in it's VIN and I have the original Window Sticker from the Dealership.

Yea my buddy's '78 was a clean example and had a 454 crammed in it, I remember him telling me he had to beat on it with a sledge to get it to sit in the mounts. Damn thing was an auto and it would burn the tires in first second and respectfully chirp them in 3rd. Mine was rusting and had a tired 350 in it but would still beat quite a few newer cars, it wasn't a match for anything with some money thrown at it though.

Original paperwork goes a long way.
Chevys do not have a lot of info built into them in a lot of cases so there's a ton of fraud. It is so bad with trim tags that in some cases that people post up "real or not" and get their answers but nobody shares why a real is real or a fake is fake. Same thing with counterfeit VIN rivets.

man thats nuts.
Though I have to admit I was heartbroken the day I found out my drivers door, and therefore door tag don't match the car. It was replaced at some point from a 1969 Mercury Montego...non MX. It matches the car perfectly but it's all wrong information (and says it's blue lol)

There was a fistfight at Bloomington Gold a few years ago where a trim tag faker who "guaranteed" his work got caught and then punched in the face by the car's owner/his customer.

Corvette guys be craaazzzzyyyy.
I only paid $2,500 for my Montego, it's in no state for me to complain about a replacement door. I've already modified the car from stock so it doesn't matter much, just gives me all that much more reason to hot-rod and not worry about being original.
If I paid 75-100k (and even more) for a Gold status Vette I'd be furious though!

If I remember correctly the owner did not like the car's original color and decided to change it and then modify the car's lineage to hide that fact. Can't recall exactly though.
Pontiac guys have it good but not Chevy. Vette guys have the NCRS, Camaros have the CRG but you need proof to call something 100% real and therefore sell it as such.

My Corvette is still for sale. I have lowered the price to $20k. It's mid-summer and I am looking to move to a new house sometime in the next 6 to 8 months. I don't really want to store the car another winter but will if I have to. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/ca…

All I have are clues, but nothing concrete enough to sell this as an LT-1. If I could, the price would be much higher. I have priced the car to be competitive with other non-numbers matching 454s. The tachometer is the LT1 tach. The tag next to the shifter says 350ci/370hp. The radiator mounts are all from the small block car. The M21 transmission was standard with the LT1. And I have a photograph of the original engine with the vin number stamped next to the CTU engine code which indicates LT1. There are many clues, but nothing really concrete enough. It would be different if I could locate the original block.

a few chevy's had useful trim tags. the 67 Camaro is by the best one because they actually stamped options on them. 68s (like mine) however are absolutely useless and to prove a car it needs to have all the stamped dated match and paperwork. though a lot of restamped blocks claiming original are starting to show up often now. 69 Camaros had info but are cryptic and differed between the two plants. I don't know on a corvette the last old one I had easy access to I was only 6 and I preferred staring at the 427/435 motor

If I had $20k, I would snatch that thing up. That thing looks pretty damn mint, especially for that price. I don't even care if its not numbers matching. You just don't come across those '70 Vettes anymore.

not in perfect condition with a 454 in them you don't!
Yeah someone brought up the numbers last time this was on here, it was numbers matching I think it would be a 75k car not a 20k car. Hell of a car to take to car shows, just maybe not a concours lol

Exactly! I don't see why people are griping about it. I mean, what more could you possibly want out of a Corvette for that price?

I don't know I feel exactly the same as you.
If I had 20k I would buy it right away, sadly I do not.

The other issue with '69 Camaros is that there is so much fraud out there with trim tags you can't really go by it anymore. Hell, it's frowned upon to even talk about what makes a tag fake!

Green one? If so, then yeah. The yenko boys tend to really get wild on stuff like that. A few years back members of Camaros.net got a faker/fraud/cheat prosecuted via forum activity.
