I'm always shocked how many active Vette haters there are out there. Like people will search out Corvette articles and blast them with trolling about interiors and lack of refinement. The new one is the best one yet, and has pretty much caught up in all regards, but people still fall back to their old reasoning and steretypes. I'm convinced that Chevy should just stay the course on building a cheap exotic-beater because for the haters and ignorant masses, it'll never be good enough. I, for one, can't wait till the day I can afford one.

I'm with you 100%.
They have found a formula to build a car and sell it well under $100k and beat down cars that are sold up to $200k. And the top end line of it may be above $100k, but that one takes down cars up to what? $300k? $400k?
Keep doing it Corvette. I'll probably never be able to own my favorite car ever built - Corvette. I need back seats.

I hate when people tell me the rear lights are shit because they don't have the same shape that they used to.
IMO, the new corvette is by far and away one of the best looking cars an American company has ever made. Now I just hope this starts a revolution of the American sports car industry.

Vettes rock - and the fact that you can get a great, used sports car for not a lot of money makes them super appealing.
Most cars have haters - the good ones - Corvettes, Miatas, Mustangs, BRZs - have a lot.

I shit you not, a few years ago at the auto show, I was standing around a C6 Z06, admiring the LS7 under the hood when I hear two guys talking to each other and say something along the lines of:
"My turbo'd (enter FWD asian compact) could smoke this thing"
"I know right, big, ugly American POS is what it is"
I just stood there in amazement at the fact that this guy genuinely thought such a thing. There are people out there who think these are that bad. It's ridiculous! This isn't a '74 with the 165 horsepower V8, it has a screaming LS7 under the hood!
I for one can't wait til C6 Z06 or C7 prices get into my realm of affordability in the future.

I have a special place in my heart for the LS7 (one of the best revving small blocks), and that place grows even bigger when talking about the Z06.
Or is it my penis that grows when I talk about the Z06? It may be that one...
Either way, it'll murk anything this side an Aventador.

Arch Duke is right. You need a car that screams #prestige at the top of its lungs.
Without prestige, we're all just animals, man.

They're so cheap, it's always a second-car alternative. Find a later model C4 with the 6MT for 9-10k and go forth and enjoy.

The C4 has squared off taillights for half its run too. In fact, that was one of the differentiating factors of the C4 ZR-1 when it was first released.

It's a shame that the LS7 doesn't have much life left. After the Z/28, I think it's pretty much dead, and that makes me really sad. I guess CAFE regulations don't really leave a lot of room for a 7-liter small block motor in a carmaker's lineup.

The Vette actually makes it hard to consider the others you listed lol. Depending on vintage, you can get one for cheaper than all the rest lol.

It doesn't even get that bad of gas mileage. It's a 500hp engine getting mileage like a lot of 400hp engines...

I'll give GM one thing, they can get DOHC V6 gas mileage out of OHV V8s.

This. Exactly. I'm seriously considering doing this when I sell the Javelin and get a second/commuting car. I'll probably go with a late 90s/early 00s Mustang though just because they're almost half the price but still. If I was looking to spend 10-12K on a good driving car I'd go with the Vette in a second (I'm cheap and looking to spend 5-8K).

these just need to assimilate so to speak. They're fantastic vehicles and once they're more commonplace like the C6 the armchair haters will have a hard time face to face

I'm still not in love with the C7's design. Like its half blacked out rear bumper, chrome grill strip, the dozen creases across the front, etc ...
But I will never fault its performance value. It really is the next step up from the "butyoucouldahadaV6mustang". A used Z06 is still my next want. There is just no argument against 30k, 500hp and reliability.

If 25k is "couldahadaV6mustang", then 50k should be "couldahadaVette".
LS7 is definitely the way to go. 7liters at 7000 rpms. So yummy.

You really can't beat a Corvette for the money. You just need the proper skills and an decent amount of courage. I only have the latter. My mom used to have a C5 w full exhaust (whole family is nuts about cars). It was terrifying to drive fast, but it was so fun and so loud!

Skills can be built. It's important to have the courage already because that's something where you either have it or you don't.
And being that the Corvette often comes with tuned muscle-car engines as their options, Vettes with exhaust are fucking sweet.
