We all envision the Blackbird with afterburners blazing while rocking across undisclosed locations at Mach 3+. Like any thoroughbred they were finicky beasts. Sometimes it went great. Sometimes it didn't. Luckily, for the pilots of this one, they got it slowed down and were able to get out. More !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

The blackbird is one amazing plane. The safety record considering that it was designed with slide rules is amazing. AFAIK there was only one pilot lost and that was because he drowned after safely ejecting at sea. That incident was due to a failure while launching the M-21(?) drone when it collided with the Blackbird after separation. Do you know how many airframes were lost?
