Huh, I can see the resemblance but I thought Ford drew more from the original 'Stang.

Right, the only difference is that one is outlined and the other one is filled up.
And one is horizontal so you dont have to put switched numbers like in the old dash

I wish someone would. I love those old linear speedometers; I don't know why all speedometers are circular nowadays.

Funny story: those are basically Falcon gauges - the original Falcon, that is, not the one excerpted above. They borrowed them directly at the same time as the floor pans, suspension, drivetrains...
