Your gauge post is actually what got me thinking about the GTO. I had almost forgot it even existed. It's been so long since I've seen one in person.

I have a sad feeling a lot of them were bought as automatics. Which, being 2000s GM, is a 4-speed.

Some MTs up in Michigan, not too far from you and Detroit CL is always a good place to look for used Big 3 cars because employee discounts flood the market.

looks allright though, I don't know if that's expensive for the US.

The Monaro's of that era in similar quality are all over $25k around here it seems. More if you want the 6.0 instead of the 5.7

Well there's a GTO for sale here that looks factory fresh, has the 6.0, and only 52,000 miles for $17,000. I'd call that a NP compared to what you have to pay.

Thing about the charger is that it weighs 500 lbs more, though it is, of course, a bit mroe powerful and, with 4 doors, more practical.

And has a usable trunk, which the the US-Spec GTO does not.

Looking at the links that have been posted, by "not modified" you mean literally nothing at all, even painted wheels? While I do get the appeal of wanting to find an unmodified example, there are a few areas on these cars that could use proper attention especially after ten years. I understand not wanting to go for ones with lots of appearance mods, or one with lots of additional horsepower because it could be a ticking time bomb. But the suspension really does not age well. Also, I'm still quite pleased to see what the value of these cars has done in the past few years.

Buy one with modifications and undo them.

If you pick the right ones it shouldn't be too difficult at all.
