Somebody donated a harman/kardon system (can-you-believe-it) to the local scrap exchange, so I ripped the speakers out of their beige casings and slipped the speakers and amp into a cigar box I found at same place. It's now basically a really, REALLY high-quality iHome with no alarm clock function.
I STILL MADE A THING!
WOOO!
(off-topic for Oppo, I know....)

That's particularly awesome. Now that you've got a solid prototype, you can work on making it even better. But that's a terrific idea.

Super cool. If I found harman kardon speakers I'd put them in my car and wire up my car stereo.

I have a pair of these, too. They're ridiculously good! Great find!
These speakers came along some Dell computers back in 2001-2003. People got them in the kit and had absolutely no idea how special they were. I got mine in 2012 sealed in the box. They gave them away at work, because they didn't know what to do with them.
So, it's not uncommon to stumble upon these when people are "throwing their old computer away". They sell at very decent prices on eBay.
