I recently posted on here, asking if I was crazy to think I could trade my car on Craigslist, and the consensus was that I should give it a shot and see what happens.

Well, I am currently giving it a shot. So far, I've already seen a 1970 Impala, a 1997 Jaguar XK8 and a 2000 BMW M Roadster for trade, but I'm not sure whether to start making offers just yet.

If anyone's interested, here's a link to the post:

You should make a list and update us on any junk or crazy trade offers you get. I'll start out. I have a sweet big screen TV that cost 8,000 3o years ago and a cool all in one stereo. I'll give them both to you for the car.

You are always going to be better off selling your car and then buying another car w/ cash. Very few people are going to offer you a trade that will benefit you - if they could have sold the cars they are offering you as trades outright, they would have. You are probably going to get some cars w/ fun hidden problems pawned off on you as trades...be careful.

DID YOU NOT READ THE POST?!?!? I WANT TO TRADE MY CAR FOR ANOTHER CAR!!!!!

I mean...um...no.

But yes, I will make a list of what I'm offered.

You are correct, but I don't really want to sell my car. I'd only get rid of it if someone offered me a deal that I couldn't turn down. Other than the fact that we'd be trading though, if I go through with this, I fully intend to treat it like I'm buying a car and get any prospective trades investigated by my mechanic.

Fine I'll throw in a 1987 Camry with 285,000 miles. Barn find, Mint condition, Ran when parked. Needs tires, paint, and engine work. Manual transmission is buttery smooth but stuck in 4th gear.

Now that's an offer I'd have to consider.

This seems slightly less risky than swapping wives on CL

Collin - I like it! Do you mind if I use your ad for a Daily Tursimo mid-week match up tomorrow? I'd like to ask my readers to find something that you should trade it for on a nearby CL. They will come up with all kinds of wacky stuff, but it'll be fun...and free too!

Sure. Maybe you'll find me that mythical guy with a 911 and a new baby!

It may not have air conditioning, and here, I need air conditioning. Also, the hood graphics are tacky.

And I think we all know that swapping wives on CL is a perfectly safe activity.

I'm sure you can find a nice, sensible Accord then.

You can always tell a Jalop by the quality of their craigslist ads.

Why dont you throw the E90 on CL for trade and see what kind of offers you get? I'd do it, but I don't have the time to deal with it....plus, I'm terrified of Craigslist.

Haha me too!

I can't trade the E90. It's the one car I have that is actually practical!

My friends from Australia are flying in tomorrow. I dunno what I would pick them up with if I didn't have the E90. There are two tall adults, a baby and luggage. Even with the E90 it might be a stretch...

You could trade a certain Doug Demuro for his Nissan Cube since he wants to get rid of it.

Posted this over on DT also, but this could be a really cool option, although it might take a grand or two out of pocket. The guy is even looking for an e39. Sweeeeet 968
