That incredible VW transaxle. With adapter plate can mount a Harley Davidson motor or in this picture, Moto Guzzi power for a fiat 600. I just had a thought about doing this to my old mini.....its amazing what frankenparts can do.

Reminds me of cars that use the Oldsmobile Toronado front-wheel drive transmission to make mid-engined small block chevy or 455 builds.

origional ones had...what, 80-100hp? Im sure there's stronger gearsets sincetheyre drag raching these things on turBo power.

I was thinking that the one in the pic didn't look quite like any VW transaxles. It is, in fact, the original Fiat 600 unit .
Transmission:
Fiat 600 (non-D) gearbox, 4-speed (synchros on 2-3-4)
Clutch:
Fiat 600 flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc, Guzzi Convert "adaptor bell" bolted to fit
For comparison, here's a Fiat one for sale :

ah...the hole Is the tell. Well, regardless there areadapter plates all around for whatever engine you want on this thing. The pic above is going into a lemons car.
