It looks like you only got to go 120~ however :( Still looks like a blast!

Very cool. Was the car completely stock or track prepped?

Yeah, unfortunately the instructors wanted to keep the speed relatively low on the banking to conserve tires.

"Only"? How fast does one need to go in order to have fun? At the only Autocross I've done I hit a peak speed of "only" 65mph in our FSAE car with an average around 45mph, and that's the most fun I've had behind the wheel. Speed is not necessarily proportional to Fun.

A buddy works for the traveling part of that company, it always sounds like fun but I've yet to do it. Good to hear you had fun, and there may be a little jealousy behind my post. Just a touch.

When you're in a Ferarri 120 isn't awfully quick.

It's different when you're on a track like that. By the looks of it the straight is a good portion of it.

My point, again, is does one need to go super fast to have fun? I'm plenty sure the OP was smiling ear to ear the entire time, that's all that matters.

I did that at the beginning of 2013. My wife got it as a surprise for me. She even paid for me to drive the 458. It's tough to tell by looking at that track diagram, but hitting close to 120 on the outside of the track is running with it floored. The whole oval is only 1 mile, so while it looks long enough to go faster, I know you were having a blast. There's nothing like hearing that engine roar as you're banging the gears on that oval. I also had a blast going through the middle/road section, though it looks like they changed up the middle since I did it. My top speed was 124.

I didn't say it wasn't fun, I just said he didn't get to tap it out on a race track. You don't have to go fast to have fun, but that doesn't mean going fast isn't fun.

You are absolutely right my friend. The infield section looks different on that diagram because that's the route I took to pass the car in front of me. It was a great experience.
