Last week I took the opportunity to join an open training session held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. It's a really well organised event that runs every Tuesday and entry is free for runners, walkers & cyclists. There were also plenty of half-decent road bikes available to rent at a reasonable rate. The track was lit, music was blaring from the grandstands and the atmosphere was really good. Given the criticisms leveled at Mr. Tilke I was surprised by the elevation changes on the track, especially in the last sector. It's not exactly Spa but with the heat it was enough to make you work hard.
I wish more circuits would run similar events, although I know they are rarely in ideal locations for it. I took a few photos but they're all as blurry and crappy as the top image; I'm sorry but I was keeping track of my laptimes and I didn't want to slow down or stop. I knew you'd understand.
