I'm polishing on this bad boy, getting it ready for powder coat and paint... going Oppo of trend wherein import shifters are big weighty knobs placed as low as they can be.
Give me that old-time muscle car leverage!
(any yes, that's mounted on a brass hose nozzle, it will be installed as well (also in a Civic).)
Also- did my first Oppo Post this morning!

I threw hub caps on my roommate's Altima so it wouldn't look so ghetto. Also, put new wheels and tires on the 2 yesterday. I'll whore post pics if someone can kindly grant me authorship.

My car related project for the weekend involves me trying my best not to work on a car. It will be difficult. I may have a problem.

Put a new heat shield on the exhaust manifold from Track Dog Racing on the Miata. The oe heatshield rattled like crazy around 3100 rpm. Now it's quiet.

Tuning up the Miata for Monday's autocross. Just basic stuff. Decided on a whim to clean my wheels.
Before.
After
1 hour per wheel. 1 down, 3 top go. Such a pain in the ass.

Thanks, and I did think about that, unfortunately in attaching a threaded adapter to the top of that nozzle, the metal has been stained and discolored by heating, beyond saving.
The plan now, polished red chrome on the back and top surfaces, black on the sides and front, and the Hurst logo in red w/white background. I'm also considering a bend in the 'shaft-nozzle', another potential nod to "old-school" aesthetics.

Grumble grumble.. two of those things in the local CL, ignored before I realized how unicorn. Eventually someone will slip and think it's just a Saab* and throw one on there cheap..
*no offense intended to non-Subaru Saab owners and their Saabs.

Dumbass question:
What kind of tools did you need?? I have sockets and pliers and stuff...but anything specialized aside from jack stands?

Exactly how I got mine for 2,000. But I don't think they slipped as they had another aero. Did need a couple of repairs but it has about $5,000 in mods.

Ratcheting wrenches make the job easier, and I needed an Allen wrench. What car?

Looks like you have struts. If you get the assembled kit, the job doesn't look that hard, but if you just want the strut replaced, and keep your old springs, you will need a spring tool. You can find the parts here, but be warned, they aren't cheap.

Damn, that is not cheap. I saw similar strut assemblies on Tirerack.com for about half the price but they are KYB.
