I've had this car for quite some time now, it's proven to be pretty reliable once the charging issues were sorted out. It was simply a bad alternator. Since winter, I've replaced a few things, like lenses as well as fixing the windows. Still can't get the left rear window down, which is sorta weird. Not bad for a 600 dollar car.

$600!?!? Is it the 190e with the little vents on the C-pillar? Love that car.

When I own a place with a garage, this will be my project car.

Yes, they have the vents. I got it for 600 because the guy lost the key to it and was allegedly moving soon. I got a new key cut for $17 at Crown Mercedes. Drove it home the same day.

I just love the look of the car, it fits my ideal of an "honest" car - it is what it is.
So, how is it to work on? All I have to go by are Kent Bergsma videos. I've heard that the 6-cyl requires you to remove the radiator before you have access to belts, but the 4-cyl does not. These are the things I wish to know...

mine is a 2.3 so it's rather simple. the hardest thing to change in my opinion is the belt tensioner, but that was due to me not reading instructions. alternator can be removed in literally 5 minutes.

Yes, the 2.3 with a stick is my first choice!
This being from the over-engineered period of M-B, I like all the little touches that make the car easier for DIY maintenance, such as the oil-vacuum for doing lift-free oil changes.

I'm in Brooklyn, NY, which is truly a driving wasteland. There's a red light every two or three blocks, and everyone parallel parks like they're on a bumper car ride. It's delightful.
